About the Job





The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is looking for a post-doctoral associate in our Institute for Molecular Virology.In this position, you'll study the molecular structure of Alphavisuses during the membrane fusion. The successful candidate will focus on identifying the oligomerizational and organizational changes of the type-II fusion proteins during low-pH triggered membrane fusion. The projects are funded by NIH and U of MN and will be conducted in Dr. Wei Zhang's laboratory. The Institute for Molecular Virology is a part of the School of Dentistry's Department of Diagnostic and Biological Sciences.The Institute for Molecular Virology (IMV) at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is an interdisciplinary institute that fosters and promotes fundamental research in virology, virology education, and translational applications. IMV researchers are working towards or at the molecular level, which is the location where virus research and related investigations intersect one another. A central goal of the IMV is to encourage interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaborations that could lead to new discoveries and, ultimately, more potent diagnostics and therapies.   • A PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, structural biology, or related field
  • High self-motivation, a well-organized working style, and good teamwork ethics Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in molecular virology, protein structure determination
    • Experience in cryo-EM and cryo-ET image processing methods
