Schedule: Monday: OFF, Tuesday: 8-5pm Wednesday: 8-5pm,
Thursday:OFF Friday(everyother): 7:45m-5pm Job Summary: The clinic
assistant will be responsible for helping to improve the quality of
care that we provide to every patient. Much of one’s time will be
spent working directly with patients. The clinic assistant will
obtain accurate patient information, educate patients on clinical
procedures/medications/immunizations, and provide exceptional
customer service. To be successful, a clinic assistant needs to be
proactive about providing patients with high-quality care. They
must have extensive medical knowledge and advanced computer skills.
The clinic assistant should also be personable and have strong
communication skills to ensure that patients have the information
they need while waiting to be seen by our clinician team.
Qualifications: BLS certification, Clinical experience preferred
Holds current certification and/or license in CMA, CCMA, RMA, EMT*,
LPN*, CNA* *Wisconsin License if working at Osceola Location and
Minnesota if working at Scandia location. Education: High school
diploma Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program,
practical nursing degree program, EMT certification, CNA
certification. Responsibilities include: · Perform pre-visit
planning/prepping for patient visits · Assist clinicians with
administering patient care · Prepare patients for clinicians’
examination, obtaining vital signs and other physical measurements,
recording accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
· Educating patients and families as deemed necessary · Tracks
orders, test results, and phone messages for each clinician to
appropriate sites both incoming and outgoing · Documents all
interactions with patients and clinicians when medical direction is
given · Oversees equipment inventory for each clinician · Assist
clinician during procedures and processing specimens to lab · Clean
and sanitize clinic instruments per clinic protocol · Administer
and document medications and immunizations per clinic protocols ·
Maintain clean and organized work areas, exam rooms, and treatment
rooms · Assist in medication refills as needed per protocol ·
Assist in prior authorization for medications and medical equipment
as needed · Adhere to clinic and departmental procedures and
protocols · Adhere to HIPAA compliance · Perform additional duties
as assigned Specialty specific: · Facilitates as a liaison with
Specialist’s main site · Sets up surgery orders for Specialists
doing surgery at OMC and coordinates with other facilities when
needed · Scribing as needed per specialty · Tonopen and dilated eye
exam · Allergy injections and immunotherapy testing.
Responsibilities will differ according to the assistant’s
certifications/licenses. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ·
Demonstrates positive verbal communication and listening skills
with internal and external customers · Ability to work
independently with minimal instruction · Knowledge of medical
terminology and general patient care skills · Maintain up-to-date
knowledge and skill in professional, clinic, and system areas ·
Demonstrates flexibility in performing additional responsibilities
to contribute to the improvements in patient care and the
functioning of the clinic and other support areas · Assists with
the updating of current and development of new procedures as
appropriate · Knowledge of PC, use of office equipment, Windows,
Microsoft Office, Teams, & EMR · Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements for the Role: · Sit, stand, or walk, while
paying close attention to detail and continual use of equipment in
the carrying out direct patient care and related activities. · Lift
from waist to shoulder up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 50
pounds rarely. · Carry up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50
pounds occasionally. Push and pull up to 20 pounds frequently and
up to 50 pounds occasionally. · Bend the trunk up to 20 degrees or
greater and twist occasionally for patient cares. · Squat and kneel
occasionally. Reach to shoulder height occasionally, and above
shoulder height rarely. Pinch and grip with various forces, and use
bimanual dexterity occasionally. · Use visual and auditory acuity
frequently. · Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended
use of computer. · Communicate via spoken, written or electronic
word with patients and family, staff, pharmacies, third party
payors and other outside agencies on a frequent basis. Work
Environment: The clinic department is kept secure by limited badge
entry and alarm system. Potential for exposure to infectious
patients or materials, hazardous or toxic substances such as
cleaning solutions and potential for needle sticks. Behavior-Based
