About the Job


The University of Minnesota is accepting applications for a salaried full-time (1.0 FTE) position as a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor of Periodontology. The Division of Periodontology seeks candidates whose training, experience, and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence.This position is vital to the clinical and didactic education and success of pre-doctoral, postdoctoral, and dental students. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be driven to succeed in clinical teaching and provide the highest quality care to our diverse patient population. The person holding this position will work with faculty, staff, and students to provide a positive and productive clinical experience for our periodontal patients.Primary responsibilities will include:

Clinical and didactic teaching for predoctoral students in Periodontology and residents in the Advanced Education Program in Periodontology Provide course administration and prepare academic offerings (lectures, seminars, case presentation, etc) Service on School of Dentistry and University committees as appointed by the Director of the Division of Periodontology Participation in faculty, resident, and student research projects conducted by the Division of Periodontology Participation in continuing education programs provided by the Division of Periodontology Intramural faculty practice or extramural private practice participation may be available
Qualifications


Required Qualifications
DDS, DMD, or international equivalent degree Minnesota dental license or eligible for Minnesota dental license by start of position (it may be possible for a faculty license to be obtained through the School of Dentistry) Completion of a CODA or CDAC accredited advanced education training program in periodontics Proof of authorization to work in the United StatesPreferred Qualifications
Experience in clinical and didactic instruction in periodontology Certification by the American Board of Periodontology or eligible for Board certification Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently Experience in IV and oral sedation or willingness to become certified
About the Department


The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is the state's only dental school and the only dental school in the northern tier of states between Wisconsin and the Pacific Northwest. We are a regional resource to five states for dental education, consulting services, patient treatment, and ongoing continuing dental education.The School of Dentistry educates general dentists, dental specialists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, dental educators and research-scientists.
